The Handmade Sculptures
They begin with the simple act of holding hands...
Shaped by moments of touch. Leaving behind organic, nature-like forms. Revealing the invisible space between people.
Reminding us how our desire to connect to each other, is part of our nature.
Each sculpture is carefully sculpted by hand into an unique work, capturing a moment of true connection.
The Handmade Sculptures make visible what already exists between us.

Get to know the process
First we connect, than we create. The Handmade sculptures are made by you and Madison. You create the shapes first by holding hands in an intimate setting. Creating new and literally lasting memories. From the created shapes the artist will create and I will one connected sculpture. Using their shapes and stories as guidelines to create one telling new piece of art.

The traces of intimacy
Yet unglazed, but covered in storylines. The impressions of our hands keeps fascinating me, and I hope it will others too through my work.

HanDmade - devided in two
This is one sculpture, devided into two pieces. Together they hold a story, but are separated to bring the stories into two homes.
The moment
The moment before the making of a new piece, we take a moment to figure out the right hand gesture. This moments highlights how intuitively we normally hold someones hand.
Handmade by Madison
The creation of these sculptures began with the desire to capture a moment of touch, human connection, into something lasting.
During the artist's studies, the pandemic unfolded, exposing a powerful tension: the instinct to reach out and hold someone’s hand, contrasted by the impossibility of doing so. This made the artist aware of how deeply we long for connection, an essential part of our nature.
Through extensive material research, she discovered that clay allowed her to translate the precious moments of touch into form, revealing and honouring the subtle moments of connection we seek.
Not creating something new, but exposing what was already there through art.
Each handmade piece is a collaboration between you and Madison.
